Obituary: R. Marie Webster

R. Marie Webster, widow of Covenant minister Paul J. Webster, died February 4. She was 98.

Marie was born April 26, 1922, in Rockford, Illinois, to Ford and Mabel Bergstrom. She graduated from North Central Bible Institute in Minneapolis.

She married Paul Webster, a fellow North Central student, on April 10, 1943.

They served churches in Labolt and Stockholm, South Dakota; Ellsworth, Wisconsin; Lewis Lake and Crookston, Minnesota; Ceresco, Nebraska; Virginia, Minnesota; Warren, Pennsylvania; and South Haven, Minnesota. They completed their work together at Minnehaha Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Paul and Marie sang duets together and with their two children as a quartet. Marie was a wonderful hostess, and Covenant leaders and missionaries were often guests in their homes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, and daughter Judy Webster. Survivors include her son, Tom Webster (Pat); two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

  1. Grandma is in Heaven with Grandpa, singing. Her sight and hearing are perfect now, and I can only imagine her happiness and joy.
