Worthy of Our Praise
February 8
Read: PSALM 147:1-11
“Praise the Lord! How good to sing praises to our God! How delightful and how fitting!” (v.1, NLT).
In the beginning years of my faith walk, my praise to God was due to something he did for me. God, thank you for this parking spot. God, thank you that I made it on time to the meeting. God, thank you for opening the door to this amazing opportunity.
Now hear me when I say it is a good thing to praise God for the good he is doing in your life. However, God is worthy of our praise beyond the things he does for us. God deserves our praise for simply who he is. He’s a loving God. He’s a faithful God. He’s a merciful God. When we shift our focus to his heart for us and not merely the work of his hands, praise is surely fitting. I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1). He is worthy of our praise.
Father, through the ups and downs of life may our praise to you be consistent. AMEN.
