An Intimate God
Read: PSALM 139:13-18
Living in the 21st century, we are exposed to amazing technology that can give us pictures into unseen realms by means of X-rays and ultrasounds. New parents are able to see their unborn child move and kick on a screen, and they can even view a 3D image of it! Without this technology, everyone would have to wait the full nine months until they could see the little miracle in person—but not God.
We are told three important facts in today’s passage: God creates each of us, he sees us at all times (even in the womb), and he has all of our days in view. This leads the psalmist to proclaim that God’s thoughts and intentions are highly valued and so numerous they outnumber the sand. Even amid this incredible reality, the psalmist can rest and trust in the Lord because every morning the Lord is right next to him. We truly serve a wonderful and intimate God!
Thank you, Father, for creating us in your image, for knowing us so well, and for always being with us. AMEN.
