The Morning Voice
January 11
Read: PSALM 29
I hear quick footsteps each morning followed by my son’s voice calling, “Mommy!” as he runs to embrace me. At times, when I have yearned to sit in silence alone before my day begins, this sweet voice has made me sigh in slight frustration that my time has been interrupted. As my son gets older, I have come to savor this morning ritual, and am quick to match his tone of excitement with my own. As I hear his voice, I feel his love for me, and my voice in response to his says something about my love for him.
The voice of the Lord is powerful, speaking “light” into existence. It builds and it breaks. It thunders and flashes with majesty, and all who hear it must respond.
Will we use our voice to give unto God the glory that God is due?
God, thank you for your voice that speaks, reflecting your power and glory. May I listen and respond with the praise you deserve. AMEN.
