The God of Intention
January 10
Read: GENESIS 1:1-5
There is something so exciting about a brand-new planner for the year. I look at the pages and see so much opportunity ahead—creating events and organizing my family’s schedules. Writing down which things will happen and when brings a sense of rhythm in which I declare my intentionality and purpose for how we will spend our time. When I see my schedule work together in complementary and predictable patterns, I feel a sense of order.
As I read this account of creation, I see the intentionality of God in his work. God organizes creation and sets systems in place. God names that which God put into existence, and it has clarified purpose. If God put so much care, creativity, and intention into creation, might we trust God with the details of our lives today?
God, thank you for this day. As I step into it, may I notice your work of love and creativity in all that I see. AMEN.
