Increase Your Fruitfulness

Increase Your Fruitfulness

December 11

Read: 2 PETER 1:3-9

“For anyone who lacks these things is short-sighted and blind, and is forgetful of the cleansing of past sins” (v. 9).

The apostle Peter exhorts us to diligently increase our fruitfulness before God, because this helps us to gain true knowledge of Christ.

But if we neglect God, we increase our blindness. Then, being “shortsighted,” we focus on this present world and our view of God’s future promises grows dim. God’s previous works in us, such as cleansing from sin, are hidden from view.

We don’t want to find ourselves in darkness. The key to increasing our knowledge of God is obedience. We know God when we keep God’s commandments (1 John 2:3); the word of God provides light to our path (Psalm 119:105).

Gracious God, help me to be diligent in my obedience to you. Do not let me neglect your word. Give me grace to labor so that I can increase my fruitfulness and knowledge of you. In Jesus’s name, AMEN.
