Stay the Course
Read: 1 THESSALONIANS 5:1-11
Years ago I used to compete in triathlons. I did one race every year where there were almost no fans or supporters on the swim or bike portions. As I transitioned to my running shoes, I often felt like I wanted to give up, losing sight of the finish line. Inevitably, though, as I came out of the transition, I began to see all the fans and supporters holding signs, ringing bells, cheering loudly, and handing out drinks. I remember the boost of energy this would give me and the way it would refocus me on my running form to finish strong.
In today’s text, Paul reminds us to encourage each other as we live our faith out in anticipation of Christ’s return. Without support and encouragement, we often lose our vision and run out of energy. Who can you provide encouragement and support to this week?
Jesus, remind us to be encouragers of others as we pursue your kingdom. AMEN.
