Final Tribute

October 30

Read: DEUTERONOMY 34:1-12

Nothing is more sacred than the final moments of a believer’s life. God ushers each precious one, surrounded by mystery and the presence of the unseen, from death into eternal life. Obituaries attempt to capture the essence of a life.

In these beautiful verses, the curtain is pulled back, allowing us to share these holy moments with God’s beloved servant, Moses. God brings Moses to a place with a panoramic view on a high mountain. The promise God made to his people remains. Moses breathes his last, and his obituary captures his relationship with the Lord. No prophet has equaled Moses, “whom the Lord knew face to face” (v. 10), and no one has done the mighty deeds that Moses did in the sight of Israel.

Jesus, you are the author and perfecter of my faith. Today is the day I can live faithfully with you. Help me to live each day of my life for your kingdom purposes and to your glory. Let me live to hear your “well done” when my day comes. AMEN.
