A Midweek Practice

A Midweek Practice

October 28

Read: PSALM 1

As a native Minnesotan, I am a fan of trees and water. Being in the northern woods refreshes my soul, restores my spirit, and nourishes my life with Christ. Psalm 1 is a refreshing invitation coming to us midweek to set aside time and simply rest in the beauty of the Lord.

Read this psalm again slowly. Now remember a favorite passage or verse that came to you at a crucial time. Allow yourself to meditate on the wonders of being in relationship with the majestic Creator! This is a way you can take delight in the Lord and allow the word and the Spirit to nourish you. Imagine yourself as a verdant tree full of fruit, leafed out and flourishing with deep roots, grounded and secure in God’s provisions!

Creator God, today I ask for the beauty of your holiness to rest upon me and to settle deep in my life. Thank you for your transformative power to make me an oak of righteousness that displays your splendor (Isaiah 61:3). AMEN.

  1. Thank you Renee. Such an appropriate meditation for me as I sit in my home office looking out into my northwoods!
