The Goodness of God

The Goodness of God

October 20

Read: EXODUS 33:18-23

When God called us to plant a church, we ran into obstacle after obstacle. People said it couldn’t be done, our concept was too weird, I was female and people wouldn’t respect me, and the money would never be there. I reached the point of desperation on one Easter morning when I sat weeping in church begging God to show me his goodness and glory. God answered and brought us to the Covenant where we found support and affirmation of our call to plant a church.

How many times does the goodness of God pass in front of us, displaying his sovereignty power and grace? Moses asked for God to reveal himself and God answered. I have read this passage many times and thought of Moses standing on the rock watching God at work. Then Moses is sheltered by God’s hand in the cleft of the rock. On that day God not only showed his power but also showed his gentle comfort and grace.

Lord, thank you for showing us your glory and power. Help me to trust that your will is indeed sovereign and good. AMEN.
