God’s Presence Will Go with You

God’s Presence Will Go with You

Read: EXODUS 33:12-17

Anxiety is a common ailment in our society today. So many people are beyond stressed—they are anxious. People are stressed about bills, illnesses, injustice, employment, and the future. Many factors in our lives can cause ordinary worry to turn into anxiety, negatively affecting our mental, physical, and emotional health.

I believe Moses was anxious when he was asked to lead the Israelites out of the desert into the Promised Land. In his uncertainty he tells God, “You have told me to lead the people but you haven’t told me who is going with go with me.” Moses wants to know if he is going to have to go it alone or if he will have help or support. God reassures him by saying, “My Presence will go with you and I will give you rest.” The Almighty reassures Moses not only by saying he will go with him, but also by telling Moses he will find rest and peace at the other side of obeying the call.

Lord, I give my worry and distrust to you. I need your reassurance and strength for this day and for all you have called me to do. Thank you for your presence that goes with me every day. AMEN.
