Choose Light over Darkness

Choose Light over Darkness

September 10

Read: ROMANS 13:11-14

The Apostle Paul requests Christ followers to live no longer by the standards of the world, concretely in our relationships. We as Christians are called to be light in the darkness and bear the shining light of truth. We are to live out and proclaim hope not fear, simplicity not hoarding, contentment not complaint, sacrifice not indulgence, admiration not envy, humility not pride, moderation not gluttony.

As I write this, we are all dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. Crisis brings out the best and the worst us. What is my armor of light in this predicament? It is being prudent to follow the guidelines of the experts and at the same time asking God for the gift of wisdom as we face the challenges ahead without losing perspective of other critical needs. It is praying with a merciful and compassionate spirit, mindful to serve, being thankful for the gift of life, and remembering the reality of our fragile and mortal human body.

Dear Lord, cover us with your light of hope, courage, and endurance. AMEN.
