Time Alone with God

Time Alone with God

August 14

Read: MATTHEW 14:22-33

Each summer our church, like many others, puts on a vacation Bible school for our community where kids can come and learn more about who God is and who God created them to be. The hardest part for me is not the events or making sure the families have signed waivers or even finding volunteers. The hardest part is constantly pouring out and not taking time to recover.

Our text says that Jesus sent the disciples away immediately, and after everyone left, he went to the hills to pray alone. Even the Son of God knew that in order to do good work, he needed some time alone with God.

Our walk with Christ is meant to be done together and in community, but not at the expense of our individual walks with Christ. Are you pouring out more of God than you’re taking in?

God, in the midst of all that is happening, allow us to be filled with your Spirit to pour out to others. AMEN.
