God Knows

God Knows

August 4

Read: ROMANS 8:26-27

I write this on day twenty-one of isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The anxiety, uncertainty, and great loss of this time is very real and will continue to mark us. Thousands have died around the country and around the world, the stock market has plummeted, and unemployment has skyrocketed. Where is God in all this? I don’t even know how to pray.

Today’s Scripture reassures us in uncertain and confusing times of our lives. The findable God finds us, searches our hearts, and prays for us and with us. For me, just sitting quietly before him in the midst of the chaos brings peace. He shows up in the caring phone calls from friends, a neighborhood porch concert, a rendition of “It Is Well with My Soul” by staff from Covenant Offices, a live-streamed worship service, Zoom meetings.

Lord, in the midst of my anxiety and fear, make me aware that you are interceding for me and through me. AMEN.
