Exchanging Death with Christ’s Life

Exchanging Death with Christ’s Life

July 18

Read: ROMANS 8:1-5

One aspect of growing up as a Hindu was the way I handled guilt. There was not a clear explanation of how to deal with sin and guilt. Karma was not easy to work with since it dictated that one be reborn numerous times to wipe out the sins or wrong actions of the past. I knew this would never work for me. I could do many good things, but I was also capable of doing wrong. There was no relief in sight, until I learned about Christ. Not only did Christ take my place on the cross, he was the only means to forgiveness for my sins past, present, and future. Paul’s words in today’s text were sweet water for my soul. I laid down the baggage of guilt I had been carrying for a long time and I felt I had been set free.

God sets us free, picks us up each time we fall, and sets our feet on solid ground. Exchange condemnation for his divine forgiveness and experience the joy that floods your soul.

Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to take my place on the cross and to deliver me from this body of death. AMEN.
