Celebrate God’s Promises

Celebrate God’s Promises

July 4

Read: PSALM 89:1-4, 15-18

“I will establish your descendants forever, and build your throne for all generations” (v. 4). You are a part of the promise that God made to David. You are one of the offspring, a member of the generations mentioned in this text.

If you are in the United States, you may be celebrating this weekend with cheers and shouts. You may be setting off fireworks or watching them light up the sky. You may find yourself delighting in time well spent with cherished people near the grill, basking in the summer air.

Let’s learn from these festivities. Can you imagine some fun ways to celebrate the fact that you are part of God’s redemptive story? How can you facilitate a culture of celebration within your family, congregation, workplace, friend group, and/or school?

God who loves his creation, free my heart from heaviness, cause your joy to bubble over in my soul, that I may learn to celebrate your goodness with fellow believers. AMEN.
