Read: 2 CORINTHIANS 13:11-13

We live in a broken and polarized world filled with division and angst. There are topics we refuse to talk about, and on a daily basis we see our brothers and sisters speaking hate and division on the news and on social media. This is not the unity Christ desires for us, nor is it the unity God created us for.

In Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church, he concludes with this encouragement: “Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you.” (v. 11, NIV). Strive for these things. This is our call. We are the church, we are to lead the charge for unity in Christ, sharing the deep love of Christ for the world. God created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them to be in unity with one another and with God. We have strayed from that beautiful unity. It is time we collectively strive for it again.

God, you have given us full authority with Christ. Help us to use our authority to bring about the perfect unity you have created us for. AMEN.
