Read: GENESIS 1:24-31
After setting the stage of life, God creates man and woman. He creates us in his own image. The great Creator brought us into the world, bearing the image of God, to care and cultivate the land. Verse 28 says we were created to have dominion over the animals and the fish, and verse 29 says the vegetation was given to us so we would have food.
God has orchestrated this magnificent, self-sustaining creation so that we could have a rich life. We were created to bear the image of God, the great Creator, to co-create with God.
I enjoy co-creating with God through gardening. In the summer, my family plants a small garden in the backyard, and we wait in eager anticipation for the first fruits of the season to sprout up from the ground. It is fun to wait and anticipate what is to come. I love that God has given us the gift to co-create with him.
God, you are the great Creator and you have entrusted us to care for your creation. Give us eyes to see how we might better care for the world around us. AMEN.
