Alive with the Spirit
Tuesday, June 2
While most stood amazed and perplexed by the miracle they had just witnessed, some addressed their doubts with accusations of drunkenness. The experience and promise that God would pour out his Spirit on all people was just too much for some to grasp—they had to find a reasonable explanation. Peter, empowered by the Holy Spirit, declared with certainty that what the onlookers were witnessing was not drunkenness, but the fulfillment of Joel’s prophecy (Joel 2:28-32). The people were alive with the Spirit!
Do you struggle with doubt? Do you wonder if the power of the Holy Spirit is at work in your life? Trust in the words of the prophet Joel. God will pour out his Spirit on all people, and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved—not some, not maybe, but all.
What a promise!
Holy Spirit, come. Help me accept the promises of God and the miraculous ways in which the Spirit moves in my life. Amen.
