What Does This Mean?

Read: Acts 2:5-13
I’ll never forget the look on my son’s face when we took him to the circus for the first time. He was five and could barely contain his excitement as he sat amazed by the sights and sounds. To him, it was nothing less than spectacular.
When was the last time you witnessed something that left you utterly amazed? The witnesses in today’s text were so overwhelmed by hearing “the wonders of God” in their own language, they stood amazed and perplexed. Their senses were overloaded with wonder as they processed the miracle in front of them and asked, “What does this mean?”
With childlike awe, may we approach the wonders of the Holy Spirit with curious minds and expectant hearts. And when we ask the question, “What does this mean?” may we be ready for the answer.
Father God, thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit, which continues to amaze us today. Amen.
