Do Not Do It

Do Not Do It

Friday, May 29

“He blesses the abode of the righteous” (v. 33).

When I think about some Latin American churches and their “no’s” they give to the youth (no movie theaters, no dancing, no trying, no involvement, no, no, no), I feel like we should tell the youth “do” instead. Do the good that is in you through Christ. Give because you have. Respond to the trust placed on you and in humbleness you will receive God’s favor.

I totally agree with the writer of Proverbs and his list of don’ts. It is so clear here. Do not harm anyone, do not quarrel, do not envy. Do not do it. Don’t even think about doing it. But let us also focus on the positive message we give—do good because it is in us through Christ.

May we think and do good, and find the favor and recognition that comes from you. In this we will show our unity to all believers and all humankind. Amen.
