Salvation History

Saturday, May 23

And now we come full circle. Those who witnessed God’s mighty acts in the Exodus now celebrate God’s faithfulness: “You brought us into the net; you laid burdens on our backs; you let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a spacious place” (vv. 11-12).

This is the history of salvation and the continuing journey of God’s people. It is our story. God, in freedom, chooses to be revealed to us. In Jesus Christ, we see God’s face—a face no longer hidden but visible to all who believe. Because of Jesus Christ, God will no longer turn away from us. God is always with us because the Holy Spirit dwells in us. The Holy Spirit prays for us even when we do not have words beyond, “Come, Lord Jesus!”

Holy God, take our lives and let them be consecrated to you. Thank you for revealing yourself to us in Jesus Christ. Amen.
