Bjorklund House Resident Dies of COVID-19

OAK FOREST, IL (March 27, 2020) – Covenant Enabling Residences of Illinois (CERIL) reported today that a 61-year-old resident of Bjorklund House had died of COVID-19 while being treated at a local hospital.

Bjorklund House is a 16-person intermediate care facility providing residential services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

In a statement released today, CERIL stated that the resident had underlying medical conditions.

Five residents have tested positive for COVID-19, all of whom contracted the virus elsewhere, CERIL said. Appropriate measures have been taken to make sure they have been isolated at the residence, with their families, or at the hospital.Additional external nursing staff are now working at Bjorklund House in order to help with the ongoing medical issues. No employees have tested positive.

CERIL said it already had put in place all possible precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Illinois Department of Public Health.

CERIL is a ministry of Covenant Ministries of Benevolence.
