Big Q: What Are You Waiting For?

Pastor Carol Shimmin Nordstrom writes in her February devotional of the Covenant Home Altar about overhearing staff at a coffee shop talking about what they were waiting for—finishing college, the season opener for a college sports team, etc. She was surprised when a customer added that he was waiting for God to take him home to heaven.

The Companion wants to hear how readers would answer this question. A new job, a family wedding, a child to return home, a diagnosis, a once-in-a-lifetime vacation? What are you waiting for?

  1. I’m waiting for the church in America to emerge from cultural captivity and live out the gospel’s radical message of self-emptying love and justice.

  2. Now that you mention it, for you to ask. In pondering your question, the answer is a welcome nudge. For, I realized I was waiting for a few more steps to become clear before I embark on the next leg of my works. Thank you for reminding me to just take the step and the next one will appear if my works are as good as I intend them to be..

    Peace & Love

  3. I’m waiting for the day to return when a Covenant pastor can offer prayer and words of blessing at a same-gender wedding and not lose his or her credentials with the denomination.
