Rachel Sands, 36

Business Development Officer, Georgia United Credit Union
Kingdom Builders Covenant Church,
Decatur, GA

“Working for a credit union is completely different than working for a bank,” Rachel says. “I love being able to help someone understand personal banking/credit better. It can be an intimidating concept.”

The biggest need she sees in her profession is for knowledge. Citing Hosea 4:6, “My people perish for lack of knowledge,” she adds, “Ignorance is not always blissful, and what you don’t know can hurt you.”

Rachel was practically born in the Covenant. Her mother introduced her father to the ECC, and eventually he planted a church that became Covenant. “I love the Covenant and I can’t see myself going anywhere else,” she says.

Currently she serves on the denomination’s Executive Board and chairs its communication committee.

Favorite way to waste time: I have several! Watching recorded shows on my DVR and playing games on my iPad are probably my go to time wasters right now.
Favorite TV show: I have several that I record and watch on my DVR when I have time.
Choose a superpower—fly or be invisible: That’s a tough one. I have always wished I had superpowers that I would use for good and not for evil! But if I must choose, I think I’d have to go with the ability to fly. It would be a great way to get around traffic.
