CHICAGO, IL (May 11, 2018) – More than 430 people have registered to serve as church delegates to Gather 2018, the Covenant’s Annual meeting, said Jill Ulven, registrar of events.
That is nearly triple the number of registrations at this point last year, when 153 had registered as church delegates. The eventual total was 252.
Total registration so far this year is 719, which includes conference and denominational delegates, who are able to vote, as well as non-voting attendees such as resource people, general conferees, and others. The final total last year was 545.
This year’s meeting will be held June 21-23 at the Minneapolis Marriott City Center hotel.
Due to the high number of registrants, the block of hotel rooms offered at discounted rates has sold out. Covenant Events hopes to sign new contracts on Monday for reduced-rate rooms at other hotels.
Seating for the opening dinner and worship service on June 21 also has reached capacity. As a result, seating in the ballroom will be limited to registered attendees.
Overflow seating will be available for live streaming of the worship service; however, dinner will not be served in that space.
The Annual Meeting is the highest legislative session in the ECC. This year’s meeting will include votes for presidents of the ECC and North Park University and the executive minister of Develop Leaders, as well as the introduction of new superintendents for the Canada and Southeast conferences.
