HOUSTON, TX (October 25, 2017) – More individuals and work teams from Covenant churches are needed to help with rebuilding work in Houston, which was ravaged by Hurricane Harvey, says Dale Lusk, director of Merge Ministries.
“There is plenty to do,” Lusk said. “We have barely scratched the surface, and after November 14 we don’t have any teams scheduled until March 11-18.”
Most of the work involves installing sheetrock, taping and mudding, laying tiles and painting. Tools are available on-site, although more sheet rocking tools are welcome, he said.
Volunteers may sign up through Merge and Serve Globally. There is a registration fee of $10 per person for people volunteering for three days or less, or $25 per person if they are going for longer than three days.
Volunteers stay at Ashford Community Church, where cots and air mattresses, pillows, and showers will be provided. They need to bring their own bedding and towels.
Merge has slots available the following dates:
November 15 – December 5: 20 to 30 slots
December 11 – January 1: 30 slots
January 7 – March 10: 30 slots
March 18 – December 31: 30 slots
Covenanters interested in helping can call Lusk at (956) 458-9568 or email him at email@example.com.
