Covenant Pastor to Appear on CBS Sunday Morning Show

WASHINGTON, D.C (March 27, 2013) – Evangelical Covenant Church minister Peter Chin and his ministry with Peace Fellowship Church, which seeks to build a bridge between the frequently fractured relationships of African and Asian Americans, will be the focus of a feature to be broadcast on CBS Sunday Morning this week.

Chin says the feature is scheduled to run sometime during the first half of the show, which airs at 9:30 a.m. EST. The piece also will be aired on the program’s website later in the day.

The news program will highlight Peace Fellowship because the church “stands out as a story of reconciliation and hope,” says Chin, who is serving as interim pastor of the small non-denominational congregation.

This is not the first time a major news outlet has focused on the church. The Washington Post wrote an article last July.

A feature written by Chin for The Covenant Companion, “Exposing our Hidden Fears,” highlights his struggles to move forward in the difficult work of reconciliation and how the church can lead the way.

Chin wrote in the article, “Church presents us the ideal environment for our hidden fears and prejudices to be exposed, weakened, and nailed to the cross with eternal finality. That is exactly what I discovered on my own journey. Fear had taught me to view with suspicion anyone who was unlike me, racially, culturally, or economically. Yet in the church I found brothers and sisters who could not have been any more unlike me, except for the fact that Jesus had given us all new life.”
